Photos in Black and White, Technicolor (Amelia) « Thread Started on Oct 9, 2009, 8:12pm »
Beau walked out of the photography room after developing some film. His pictures were of different areas around the town, and he was pleased with his artistic abilities. His eyes burned from being in the dark for hours, with only the very alarming red light illuminating his movements. The exposure to the bright light in the hall only increased the sensitivity of his eyes, and he was hindered in his movements for a few moments. Beau rubbed his eyes, clearing them of the haziness caused by the change in light levels, and he adjusted his shirt. It had been warm in the darkroom, and Beau was grateful for the faint breeze that came into the hall through open windows. He was, however, still sweating a bit.
Deciding to cool down, Beau slid down the wall, and sat with his head resting against the cool, white wall. His dark hair was matted with sweat, and he could feel that cold feeling of the breeze drifting over the wet spots on his forehead. He was always extremely warm, but today was much worse than normal. Digging into his bag, Beau dug out a notebook, where he began to review his notes from his biology class.

Amelia picked up her binder and held it under one arm, slung her book bag over her shoulder, and walked hurriedly out of the sculpting room after brushing the plaster dust off of her hands and clothes. Her following class was at the other side of campus, but now it was lunch, and she was grateful for the extra time to study or finish incomplete assignments. Mia slowed once she was in the hallway, shoving her hands in her jeans pockets. Her eyes focused only straight ahead, determined not to lock gazes with anyone passing by. Amelia stopped at her locker to take out her geography textbook. By now, the halls were mostly clear, besides a couple of girls gossiping a few feet away, a teacher locking her door to go to lunch, and a boy farther down the hall, looking slightly winded.
Amelia leaned away from her locker to get a better look at the boy. He looked about her age, maybe a year older. He didn't look at all familiar, though, considering it was only her second day. Amelia sighed and shut her locker. As much as Mia found it impossible and irrelevant, her aunt urged her to make friends, or at least someone to relate to. She considered trying it for a moment, then gave it the usual exuse: Maybe later. She walked down the hall, with only a novel in her hands, and quietly sat across from the all, a little off to the right. She idn't look up or say hello, but only opened her book and was soon hypnotized by the words on its pages.

Beau looked up as he heard the noise of foot steps down the hall. A girl he had never seen before walked toward him, silently taking him in. She was curious, he could tell. Her eyes said it all, but he didn't look at her long enough to analyze her. He was too worried about his biology exam....which was tomorrow. Absorbed in his notes, he didn't realize that the girl had sat near him, almost exactly in front of him. Looking up from his page to stare at something else, he was startled to find she was there. She held a book, and looked entranced by it's words. He felt rude for interrupting, but he had to know what was so attracting about that book. Beau was an avid reader, so he was always looking for something new.
"So, um, what's that book called? It looks like it may be interesting." Beau asked, quickly looking at his notes before she noticed he was looking at her.

It took her a couple seconds to realize someone was talking to her. She looked up to blink at the boy. "Hm? Oh..." She faced the cover toward him. In big black letters (each edge coming to a sharp point), it read, 'The Black Tattoo.' She crossed her legs uncomfortably and quietly said, "It's actually a bit childish, really... the main character's friend is possessed by a demon and taken to Hell..." she stopped for a second, noticing how childish the plot really did sound. She continued anyway. "So the main character has to follow the demon to Hell and rescue his friend before the demon uses him to destroy the earth."
Mia sighed, looking at the thick book. She didn't bother to wonder why he was curious. No doubt a fan of reading, like her. "You could have it, if it sounds interesting to you. I was just finishing it." Which was true, only a few pages remained unread. Amelia forced herself to look up at the boy as she waited for a reply, expecting him to tink immature of her the way she explained it.

"Hmmm, it does sound interesting, however..." Beau looked thoughtful, "I don't normally read stuff about demons. It's just not my favorite subject matter." He smiled. "I applaud you, though. Not many people read that stuff in public at my previous high school. I was a closet reader myself. I was more into the D&D, dragons, warlocks, and witches fantasy. I know. Nerd." Beau shrugged, and looked back down at his biology. He wasn't sure if she wanted to continue to talk to him, or if she wanted to keep reading her seemingly interesting novel.
"Hey, um," Beau hesitated, "What classes are you taking?"
