Serenity couldn't relax. What if she said something wrong? This was the first time she had gone out and just acted like a teenager in...ever. Wow that was sad. She stopped on her way to the book store, stunned by that thought. That was reeeally sad.

She shook her head and kept walking. She pushed her way through the crowds, her hands in her pockets and her head down. She wouldn't chance people touching her...but she didn't want to slow down. She had told Iris that she would meet her on the bookstore on the first floor of the mall. And she didn't want to be late. She pulled her headphones out of her ears, putting an abrubt end to Creator by Santigold and stuffed it in the pockets of her black jeans as she approached the bookstore. She leaned against the doorway, keeping her eyes out for Iris. She tugged her black sleeves down over her hands to keep from accidently touching anything and scanned the crowds.

iris walked into the mall completely bewildered, what is with all of these people? she thought to herself as she pushed past one after another person in the extremely overcrowded mall. she was beginning to think that this might be a bad idea..she hugged her arms to her chest and continued walking trying to push that pessimistic voice in her head down. what if she got there and serenity wasn't there? what if it was all a joke and serenity was standing her up? she shook the thought..serenity isn't like that. she would never do that unless she had a really good reason. iris was confident of that fact. serenity was a good person. but what if she finds someone better to hang out with? iris almost smacked herself. would you stop that iris said to her own mind she sighed and kept walking....everything is going to be fine she thought.

she got to the part of the first floor where the book store was and took a deep breath. holding in all her nerves, she looked up and saw serenity there waiting for her and she smiled at her from where she was hoping that she could see her, once she got close enough she got nervous again, what is the protocol here? do i hug her? shake her hand? its best to not do anything she thought after about ten seconds of standing then just said one word.

"hi."

how eloquent, she thought to herself, ashamed of her lack of conversational skills.

Serenity couldn't help the smile on her face when she spotted Iris in the cloud. Iris seemed as bewildered as she felt by all the people around her. Was she as clueless as Serenity when it came to these things? Serenity secretly hoped so, it meant they were on the same playing field and Serenity wouldn't look like a total enept loser in comparason. She was really excited to get to know her better, she already seemed like someone Serenity could get along with really well. They were both loner types, but at the same time she hoped they could get along because of that. Plus they both loved books.

She pushed away from the wall as Iris approached.
"Hi," she replied with the smile still plastered to her face. "So, how are you? Ready to shop?" She tried to keep the happyness in her voice and tried to keep the accent from over taking her words. She wanted this to be lighthearted and fun, not tense.

She started to walk into the bookstore, waiting for Iris before entering into the less crowded place. It was nicer in there, it wasn't overcrowded.

iris sighed happily this time serenity seemed to be nervous like she was and it made it easier for her to relax, she knew serenity really wanted her to be here and that fact was enough to quell irises nerves for a while. she followed serenity into the book store in awe of all the books, she always was. then remembered that serenity had actually said something to her and mentally kicked herself for not responding right away.

"im good, really excited to check out what they have here, how bout you?" she said genuinely interested and she was interested while waiting for serenity to reply she looked up on the aisle markers and saw where it said fantasy and began to walk toward it knowing that serenity would follow because she knew they liked the same kinds of books. she was sure that her and serenity were going to have a lot to talk about so she started to pull a book out from the case as she waited.

Serenity quickly followed Iris into the fantasy section, glad that she went there first, Serenity was a little too nervous to lead the way anymore then that. She slid into the aisle next to her and looked at the book she held, smiling happily for once.

"I'm good too, and I'm completely excited. I've actually read that one, what about ya? It was totally cla." She winced when she went over what she had just said. She had slipped into Irish slang again, shite! "Sorry, I meant it was brilliant." She hoped that Iris wouldn't think she was a freak...pleeeease let her not think that. She would hate it if her heritage was what screwed up her possibly getting a friend. She had lived in Ireland for 14 years...sometimes it just slipped.

She took a deep breath and then smiled, trying to brush off the slip up.

Iris thought for a second about Serenity's use of the of that word, she'd never heard it before..but she decided not to ask about it out of fear that Serenity wasn't ready to get to personal yet and it would jeapordize their entire friendship so she decided to just be nice about it. "Oh no don't worry about it, that sounds pretty cool anyway..yes you really liked it? I've been thinking about picking it up but I wasn't sure. Iris said smiling at Serenity hoping she would know that its okay..she looked at the book lost in thought afraid of what to do next, scared that at anysecond she'd do something to piss serenity off and she would just leave..it scared her shitless..Oh well she thought helplessly, she was just going to have to trust her gut and let the day roll and play out..she hoped it would play out well.

Serenity was pleasantly surprised. Iris was fine with her being odd? She ad only stopped for a minute when Serenity had slipped into Irish slang. Hesitantly she decided to go for it. She decided to step out of her comfort zone and asked. "I could teach you a bit a'slang if ya wanted?" She had never offered to do this before, but she had never really tried to make a friend before. It was as much a way to try and bond with her new friend as it would be helpful, if they turned out to be friends...it would make it easier if she understood at least a bit of her usual slang.

She turned her attention back to the book and what Iris had said about it.
"It's totally worth the pick up, but ya don't haveta bother...I have it meself back home, I could loan it to ya?" And with that she was back in the realm of the normal teenager. And she couldn't help the giggle that burst past her lips. After all this time of being on the run and the supernatural shite that was all around her, she was finally able to just relax. This town was doing wonders for her...she hoped it would stay this way. "I'm sorry, I'm not laughing at ya, I'm laughing at meself."

iris looked at serenity and saw how she was somewhat opening up and it made her smile a lot, she hadn't had a really good friend in a really long time and it was starting to feel good to have someone laughing and smiling a her. "id love for you to teach me some!" she smiled at serenity hoping the smile was warm and inviting "your place?" iris thought for a moment shes inviting me over..that's a good thing isn't it? yes it must be it must be...iris smiled at her again and said "that would be great..i would love too"she put the book down and moved down the aisle to look at a different book and waited for serenity to follow all the while a small bud of happiness and hope was growing in her chest and all iris was hoping was that it wouldn't be squashed. she looked down at the end of the aisle and saw a couch which would have just enough room for the both of them. "would you like to go sit?"iris waited for a response.

Serenity was really, really happy that Iris was smiling. It meant she was doing something right! In her head she was doing a little happy dance and she hoped it didn't show on her face too much. Looking happy was one thing but looking too happy was just weird, wasn't it? And she wanted her to teach her some of her slang! That was amazing! "That's great! I'd love to teach you, some are odd though," she said with a laugh.

She nodded at the invitation to sit and moved to do so, leaving room for Iris to sit next to her without haveing to touch her. It wasn't that she had anything against Iris it was just...she didn't want to chance that. She had had moments before where she'd sit differently and her shirt would ride up and then her Sight would freak out and show her more then she wanted. She would not let her Sight take over her life...not again. She pulled a book out of the shelves next to her. House of Night. She couldn't help but love this book.
"Here's another one...ever read it? I can't help but like books like this." Even though I shouldn't....even though in the real world vampires are the reason I'm a nomad She shook the negative thought from her mind and smiled. "What about you?"

iris saw that serenity sat on end of the couch, but at the very endshe probably likes her own spaceiris thought as she sat at the other end of the couch iris didn't want to upset serenity and if the girl wanted her space she would give it to her..besides the couch was small so they weren't that far apart anyway she smiled at serenity laughing and talking to her and was definitely looking forward to her teaching her some of that slang she was talking about so much. heritage is very important irises own heritage was long forgotten to her she had to leave it behind when she left..it was the only way she could move on. serenity was asking her a question while iris had been zoning"oh sorry..yes i have read those! its a great series!"a little unrealistic..but that was the lure iris could escape the nightmare of being a real vampire and have fun reading about the fake ones.

Serenity was glad that Iris hadn't taken offense to how she had left room in between them. It was a little odd, she knew, but it was for the best. She didn't want to accidently learn something new about Iris, it was better that way. It would be better to learn about Iris the normal way, like a normal human. She chuckled at that thought. I like being normal...It makes life so much easier. Maybe I can keep my gift under control

She zoned back into the conversation, realizing she had gone off in lala land, but that was okay, because so had Iris. She smiled.
"Who's your favorite? I like Erin, I can't help it. I love the water," And because seeing how Erin dealt with it helped me, but that's besides the point...

Then she remembered that there was some big thing coming up this Halloween. Normally she didn't do Halloween, there was no time to do that stuff, but this sounded fun.
"So did you hear about the big Halloween party thing? Are you going? I mean...if you're into that stuff" She hoped that Iris was going, it would be nice to have a friend there.

iris was comfortably sitting next to serenity, happy and eager but she didn't want to seem to eager, she didn't know serenity that well and maybe once she did she would be less nervous that everything that came out of mouth was going to be a fuck up, so the reason she was taking time in her responses to serenity it was because she didn't want to say anything that was going to offend her. she smiled as serenity was talking to her her accent was definitely noticeable but iris thought it was completely cool i wish i could talk like that.. iris thought to herself, in the midst her admiring serenity's accent she forgot to answer her question [color=Purple"sorry.. i spaced i was just admiring your accent its totally nuts" she said smiling encouragingly."i love Zoe..i feel like i have a lot in common with her..so much boy trouble..i can totally relate.."iris said quietly then looked down and fiddled with her finger nails..she heard her ask about the Halloween party and spoke "well..i was thinking of going..but i didn't wanna go alone and i have no idea what to wear as a costume." iris said hinting that she wanted to go.[/color]

Serenity was stunned by that. She likes my accent? Most people find it odd or weird...or just won't talk to me because they can't understand me... But Iris liked it. There was a bubble of joy brewing in Serenity. She really enjoyed talking to Iris. "Do ya really? Most people can't understand a word comin outta me mouth when I get nervous, it gets thicker then." Why had she said that much? She was trying not to babble. She turned her attention back to everything else Iris had said.

"I like Zoey alright, and I think she's good for the main character," she said. She left off the part about the boy trouble, figureing that if Iris wanted to tell her she would, she wasn't going to press at it.

Serenity could hear the hinting in Iris's voice and in what she said. Hoping she didn't sound so forward she put her hand on Iris's arm, covered by the cloth of her sleeve.
"If you want to...you can come with me? I'm going all medieval style," She grinned at that point. She loved the Medieval style of dress...so elegant. Plus it was long and would cover every bit of her except for the square neckline. It was perfect for her. She heard the hope in her own voice.

iris was happy that she and serenity were getting along and she really did like serenity's accent it reminded her of Europe and Europe reminded her of home..stop thinking about it..she scolded herself..she had been missing her home a lot lately and sitting her thinking about was only going to make it worse and who wanted that? certainly not iris, she looked serenity felt a admiration bubble in her gut she was so unique and different and she wanted to be friends with iris i am going to do what ever i can to make this workiris promised herself silently, then responded to serenity "yes i really do love it i think its totally unique..or whats that word you used again? cla? yes its totally cla!iris laughed at her poor attempt at using serenity's slang and looked at her, making sure that she didn't offend her she was also happy that serenity didn't press the whole boy trouble thing iris hadn't meant for that to slip out at all. serenity had just asked her if she would like to go to the Halloween party with her..she wants to go with me?? iris almost jumped for joy of course she would go with serenity! they would have so much fun together iris could just imagine it now she thought happily then she smiled at serenity and said "yes i would love to go with you..um would you mine if i went medieval style as well..it would be so cool to match!!" she was smiling wildly now but was hoping that serenity wanted to do this..it would make iris so happy to go with her..she was feeling finally like serenity was her friend.

Serenity laughed so hard it hurt a little. She couldn't help it, she was so happy and then Iris...using cla... She shook her head, realizing that Iris was probably taking her laughter the wrong way."No...no...I'm sorry. You used it pretty well...I was just surprised is all. I've never heard my accent described as cla." Probably because anyone who would use cla doesn't see the accent as cla, they see it as normal She stopped and thought over what she had just thought. Now that was a confusing thought....She shook her head and willed herself off this train of thought....because even that was a confusing thought....Stop it!

Iris wanted to go with her? That was great! She grinned and nodded, Iris's happyness being way too infectious for her not to.
"That would be totally rapid! It would be fine, it would...well, maybe in different colors...like you could do red and black or somethin'?"
