 Lonely Thoughts (open)
« Thread Started on Nov 3, 2009, 8:54pm »

It was an unusually warm day for October, and the warm day found Serenity sitting out in the sun. She sat on the bleachers in the sun, hoping it would warm the ice that had grown over her. She wasn't used to being so still, usually she kept herself on the run, trying to escape the unpleasantness. Being still gave her too much time to think. So she sat on the bleachers, writing poetry.

Tell me how, my sweet angel
To fly among the skies
To lose myself to the stars
And let go of the lies

Be my muse, sweet angel
Don't let my heart go black
Loosen shakles and bars
And show me what I lack

Find my grip, sweet angel
I wish not to be lost
So sweep me off my feet
And take from me the cost

Take my fear, sweet angel
Show me who is me
Don't let me lose that sweet
Individual'ty

Her chicken scratch scrawled across the page and then she put down her pen with a sigh. She couldn't focus on this. It worked for a little while but in the end it couldn't chase the sadness...no the fear from her mind. She hated to admit it but she was terribly afraid right now. She figured she had the right to be. She had gotten in the middle of a vampire and a demon and it had ended up scaring the wits out of her.

She hated to admit how scared she was. She hated to admit it because she was always alone, always strong enough to be. She didn't need anyone else and she pushed them away. But right now she craved another's company for the first time in years. She wiped away the tears that began to fall and sucked them up, refusing to let herself show that weakness. Then she saw a shadow fall over her page and looked up, realizing someone was behind her. She hoped she didn't look too pathetic and you couldn't tell she had been crying. Quietly she spoke. "Yes? Can I help you?"

"Hey." Beau came by and sat next to Serenity. "What's up?" He was feeling a bit down today, but he couldn't really pinpoint why. It was a dreary day for him, and the full moon was going to be out and about in a few days time. So, as he walked alone towards his house, he just happened to see Serenity. She was in one of his classes, and seemed nice enough. He hoped that maybe saying hi to her would help him cheer up.
"So today kinda sucks. Do you agree, or am I the only one on this boat?" Beau smiled, his glistening white teeth even whiter in the bright light. He hair fluttered across his temple in the wind. He hoped it didn't rain.

Serenity smiled when Beau sat next to her but it was a bit forced. She couldn't help it, today was horrible, and she hoped the tears hadn't left stains on her cheeks. "'Ey there." She winced at how her accent was as thick as pea soup but kept going. She put away her notebook, hiding her latest poem and shoving it into her sidebag. She laughed quietly when Beau seemed to echo her thoughts about how horrible the day was and nodded. "Oh I completely am on that boat, I might as well be captainin' it." she said with a laugh. "But the weather doesn't seem to agree" She looked up at the sky, squinting at the sun before turning back to Beau.

She tried to bring herself out of this funk, because she was genuinely happy to have him here. She had been waiting for company so she wouldn't have to be alone and Beau seemed sweet, though she knew her accent would be thick until she relaxed more around him, it wasn't something she could help. "So what is it that has ye down?" She asked curiously, trying to take her mind off of her troubles. She brushed her bangs out of her face, though the wind didn't help it just pushed them right back, and smiled.

"Honestly, I couldn't tell ya. I just have the feeling. You know what I'm talking about right?" Beau stared off into space. "That feeling in your stomach that makes you feel like something terrible is going to happen to you, but you just don't know what it is, so you fret and fret about it until your feeling becomes a reality. I think....I think I'm worried that....Oh gees, this is embarrassing. I think I'm worried about Iris and...another friend of mine....I think she likes him too." Beau laughed and shrugged his shoulders. "Now I'm acting like I'm fifteen. Oh you girls and the way you make us feel." Turning to look at Serenity, Beau finally noticed what was strange about her voice. "Ok, don't think I'm weird or stupid, but I just now noticed your accent."

Serenity nodded, listening to Beau speak about what was wrong. She knew what he was talking about exactly. And when she got that feeling she tended to fret it to death and stress herself out. She smiled and laughed softly when he made the comment about how he was acting then shook her head. "Yer not actin' like yer fifteen, I get what ye mean. Don't be embarrassed...I promise I don't judge. So you like Iris?" She questioned, teasing slightly. She wondered if Iris had gotten over her issue with boys, because Beau seemed nice enough and she didn't think he'd hurt her friend. She shrugged off the thought, it wasn't any of her buisness, as usual, but she liked to listen and help if she could.

She laughed again when he mentioned just noticing her accent, feeling more at ease. "Did ye truly? Normally its the first thing people notice about me." She was sort of happy it wasn't the first thing he noticed about her.

"Yeah, I think I do. I can't say for sure. Ever since this summer, I just feel like my world is so much more different than what it used to be. I'm like a completely different....person." Beau stopped to think about what he would say next. " Sometimes, I wish I wasn't a high school student. I wish I was done with this place and far away from here. I wish my life would either fast forward or rewind." Beau shrugged again. "I guess its not all bad. I have friends like you and Iris to keep me company....we are friends, right?" Beau asked, just to double check.

"Honestly, I pay more attention to someone's words than what their voice sounds like. Your accent is quite enjoyable, just so you know. It's great to hear something other than my northerner's accent. When you live in snow most of your life, it's hard not to sound somewhat Canadian. I say 'Eh' a lot, however it doesn't quite sound like that harsh 'A'." Beau laughed at his comparison of accents. It was quite ingenious.

"So why are you onboard of the 'Today Sucks Butt Boat'?"

Serenity got what Beau was saying. She had been in that same place about a year ago, before she had settled down. When she was on the run everything just passed by too quickly and she was living day by day. "I catch yer meaning, I do. But I suppose everything changes for a reason? Focusing on the good usually helps to drown out that feeling," She said with a smile. "A good friend told me that about a year ago when I was in the same boat." She shook her head, thinking of the friend who had told her this, who was more of a sister really. She thought for a moment when he had asked if they were friends. She usually pushed people away but she was trying to start anew so she saw nothing wrong with agreeing. "Aye, I think we are."

He paid more attention to words. Serenity smiled, she liked that. Most people did not. Then she shook her head. "I'm gonna sound like an eejit here and say I didn't notice yer accent either." She said with a bit of a laugh.

Her face went serious a bit when he asked why her day was sucky. She looked up to the sky to think. She wasn't sure how to put why her day sucked, not to someone that she wasn't sure knew about the supernatural or not. It was hard to explain to someone who would run at the mention of vampires and demons. She decided to go with the non-supernatural reason. It was a simple one, afterall. "I've been a bit of a loner for the past couple'o years, on the move and all. Always been on me own, ya know?" She shook her head. trying to think of how to put it. "I just s'pose I was feelin' lonely today. And a bit scared, I got caught in the middle of a fight the other day....in between people who were stronger then me." She looked back at him and smiled sheepishly, not wanting to go on about herself. She hoped she hadn't said too much. "Sorry, don't mean to be a downer."

"Well, sometimes we have to be down. For instance, I really have no idea why I'm so upset on such a beautiful day. It doesn't make sense. The sun is out and happy, but I'm sad and tired. And its only fair that you were scared. Being between two people who are big and more powerful than yourself is quite scary. I know, I was a football player before I came here." Beau smiled and hoped he was being helpful. "Let's take our mind off of the depressing stuff and talk about something better. You pick the topic."

*Sorry so short. I have to go to work. lol

Serenity nodded and smiled. "Never said they were bigger, but thanks" she said, teasing slightly. It was good to talk to someone instead of sitting here alone...which she was glad she wasn't doing anymore. She listened when he said he played football before he came here and she took a minute, trying to remember exactly what that was here. Back home, football was soccer and gaelic football was even more fun. But here in America it involved tossing the oval shaped ball and tackling, correct? She shook her head. Why couldn't they just call every game by the same name, it would make it easier. "Oh really? Sounds...entertaining. Sorry, I don't play sports meself. So why did ye come here, if ye don't mind me asking?" She hoped she wasn't pushing, but she was curious.

She looked up at the sky when he said she picked the topic, "hmmm"ing as she thought of a new topic for them to speak of. In the end she picked one that she new was a little lame, but had to start somewhere, right? "Hmmm, well, why not stick with the safe topic of hobbies? Like to read?" She asked.

OOC: Tis fine ^_^

"Well, Dad's in the military, and we constantly move. I guess they decided to put us here for the time being. Of course, I'm a senior, so I don't think I'll be leaving when they do. I'm looking into the university."

Beau scratched his head and sneezed. Allergy season was definitely not fun. It was about to get cold, which oddly, Beau was thankful for.

"Yes, I love to read. I don't have a lot of time to do it though, but I do love it. How about you? Do you like photography? That's a secret passion of mine."

Beau pulled out some of his pictures he had most recently developed. They were pretty good. There was one of a pond, where two little kids were playing in the water. Another one was of a dog chasing a cat. They were pretty cute and Beau loved them.

She nodded, listening to Beau as he spoke before responding. "Ah, well I can sympathize with the whole moving around bit, haven't sat still meself in about four years. Decided to settle down here. And settlin' sounds like a good plan, I heard the university's good here." she said, then blushed realizing she was babbling a bit. Hearing him sneeze she rummaged around in her bag before she found a packet of tissues and held them out to him, silently asking if he needed them.

She chuckled softly when he said he didn't have a lot of time to do it. For her it was quite the opposite. "My nose is always stuck in a book, I have too much time on me hands so I guess I'm the opposite." She answered then shrugged when he asked about photography. "Never tried it, meself, so I wouldn't know if I like it, but you're really good...seriously, these are really cute!" she exclaimed with a smile, unusually chipper, trying to cheer up especially now that they were off the topic of suckiness. "Me personal creative outlit is writing, poetry mostly." she said, patting her bag where her notebook sat. She leaned back a bit, trying to appreciate the sun, though she thought she smelt a bit of rain on the wind. She hoped it wouldn't rain, but one never knew.

"Poetry, huh? That's interesting. I'm not very good at putting my words together. It doesn't come as easy to me as photography. I love expressing myself through the beauty of what's here already." Beau was half tempted to get his camera out now, and photography the beautiful tree they were sitting next to. Ever since he had been changed, his senses were heightened, and his vision was amazing. He could capture almost anything he wanted with his camera, and he loved that part about being a freak.

"You should let me read some of your poems sometime. I'd be happy to leave feedback." Beau closed his eyes, and leaned back against the bleachers, relaxing. It was an amazing day, and just talking to Serenity made his fears go away. If Iris and him were meant to be together, they would be. He had no doubt about it. All Beau hoped for now, was that Serenity would be feeling much better now that he was here to talk with her.

She nodded, listening to Beau talk about his photography and it was obvious in the way that he spoke that he loved to do it. Serenity knew why she was so good at expressing herself through words, but she wasn't sure if she could explain without getting all choked up. She dediced to give it a try, if she failed it was understandable right? She had already told him she was feeling suckish today so that would hopefully be enough of a warning. "I don't know if I'd be any good with a camera, never tried it. But with words...they just come to me," she said with a slight smile, focusing on the good before she continued. "I've been writing all my life. Me Mum was a published author back home, taught me all she knew...I haven't tried picking up writing novels since she....since I left. But I love to write poetry." There, she had done it without much incident. Sure she had to stop once, but that was progress, for her. She usually couldn't talk about it at all.

She blushed a bit when he offered to read her stuff. No one had read what she had written in a long time. She shrugged though, ignoring the warm blush on her cheeks. "Yer welcome to read it if ye like...I wouldn't mind the feedback," was what she finally decided to say when she spoke. She smiled at him when he relaxed, it was relaxing to just talk and not think about the bad side of things. She found herself unwinding a bit, all she had needed was company it seemed, afterall. Then she smiled a bit mischeiviously, looking up at the sky to hide that glint in her eyes. She remembered what she had seen in class earlier today and decided it couldnt hurt to ask. "So...whatcha think 'bout Iris?" she asked, keeping her voice innocent. "She's my best friend here, so I'm simply wondering," And keeping an eye on one of my only friends she added silently, but kept that part of it to herself.

"Sure thing. You let me know when you want it read, and I'll read it. No questions asked." Beau smiled. Serenity was good in his book. He enjoyed having someone who wasn't attached to him to talk to. When he tried to talk with his dad, it was much different. He supposed that's what being in high school was all about. The only issue he had was finding someone to share his secret with. It bothered him that he couldn't talk to anyone, especially his friends here. They would think he was a freak, and then he would have to start all over without friends and security.

Beau chuckled when Serenity asked him about Iris. "I have to admit, I think she's perfect." Beau smiled even wider. "I can't explain it, but ever since I ran into her over by the lake, I've had a sort of 'puppy love' thing going on." He really needed to stop comparing himself to dogs in general. It was cruel and unusual punishment that he kept inflicting on himself. "She seems very awesome, and I am very excited all three of us have Anthro together."

Serenity let out a breath she hadn't known she was holding when Beau was so easy going with the whole thing. She nodded in response with a smile. No questions asked definantly worked for her. She was enjoying herself having this conversation to the point that she forgot that when she first decided to sit here, she had been terrified and on the verge of tears.

She smiled when Beau talked about Iris. He didn't seem to have any alterior motives about her, he just seemed to like her and that made her relax a bit more. She didn't make many friends, so she was very protective about those that she did make. She chuckled when he used the term "puppy love" and automatically thought of the girl that was practically her sister, Kitty, as she always did when someone mentioned dogs. It was the side effect to knowing about the supernatural she supposed. It turned into full laughter when she thought of the term puppy love applying to her, and then she she realized that laughing was rude so she put up her hands and shook her head. "I swear, I'm not laughing at you boyo, just thinking of my sister...sorry the mention of dogs or puppies always does that, don't ask, I know it's stranged. Anyway.." she trailed off, taking a deep breath. She hadn't laughed alot in a while, it felt good. "You be careful with my girl, aye? She doesn't usually do well with boys," she added, then covered her mouth, she didn't think that was her tail to tell, but it had just slipped out. "And if anyone asks, I did not just tell ye that," she added in a rush. Then she smiled when he spoke of having class together, and nodded in response to that as well. It was nice, and she felt like the class was going to be a good one if she had two friends in one class.
